National Security Language Initiative for Youth (NSLI-Y)
The National Security Language Initiative for Youth (NSLI-Y) program, sponsored by the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Education Affairs, provides merit-based scholarships to U.S. high school students and recent graduates interested in learning less-commonly studied foreign languages in summer, semester, and academic year international immersion programs. The program encourages beginning, intermediate and advanced language learners with a passion for cross-cultural communication and living abroad to apply. The language programs offered include: Arabic, Chinese (Mandarin), Hindi, Indonesian, Korean, Persian, Russian and Turkish. ACES administers programs in Taiwan (Mandarin), Turkey, Latvia (Russian) and Korea.
